Today we have discussed about competencies of teachers. During the discussion Taina Poutanen provided us by useful materials of competencies of students, teachers and other people. We have learnt how we can make self-assessment about our competencies. We have received the opportunity to evaluate themselves.

Lessons Observation of Paivi Pukkila and Taina Poutanen 25.04.2014

With Paivi Pukkila till afternoon, we have discussed about "Study counselling methods".
Structure of counselling, which has represented Paivi, caused big interest among us. We had possibility to familiarize with stages of counselling. I think this knowledge will be nesessary in our own career in future. Afternoon, we studied materials about Counselling in higher education in Finland with Tiina Poutanen.She has taught us how can properly organise counselling in higher education. In addition, we received much materials, which we will use at our school, for instance, "Recognise your opportunities" (Workbook for students). Thank you very much to both lecturers!

Lesson Observation of Soile Varis (Finnish history teacher, Kauriala Upper Secondary School)

Today I first time was on lesson of history at Kauriala Upper Secondary School. I have enjoyed this lesson, because history teacher Soile Varis was able to conducts her lesson on high level. During the lesson the teacher have used methods, which promote the developing the  ability to critical thinking of students. Materials of lesson closely related with Finnish's life and modern policy of the World. Today I have familiarized with academic course of History of Finland and I was able to see how can participate in learning process Finnish students.In addition, Soile gave me much information about Finnish experience.

Lessons Observation with Paivi Pukkila (Senior Lecturer)

I am grateful for the wonderful  lessons of Paivi Pukkila. Her lessons were well planned, carefully thought out and lecturer knew the learning goals, which she wanted to achieve with us. During the lessons we knew more information about system of guidance and counselling in educational institutions of Finland. We have understood main content of counselling system and have conducted  a few activities in group work. I think knowledge and skills, which we received today will be very useful for our pedagogical experience.

Workshop with Jukka Niinimaki Senior Lecturer

Workshop with Jukka Niinimaki was interesting. During the day we have learnt how we can use possibilities of moodle e-learning system in learning process. For instance, we learnt how we can add some materials in the moddle for other teachers and for students. We tried to use moodle during our lessons: to send messages to each other, discussed on the forum different issues and etc.

Lessons Observation of Ritta Varkila (Kauriala Upper Secondary school)

Today we have visited lessons of English teacher Ritta Varkila at Upper Secondary school. During the lesson Ritta has shown different kind of tools of teaching: testing, listening, group work, pair work. The lesson was interesting because students actively have participated in dialogue with their teacher, were performing different tasks and exercises. The teacher closely has interacted with students through dialogical methods.

"Constructive alignment in assessment' Principal Lecturer, Irma Kunnari, M.Ed.

With Irma Kunnari today we have discussed about "Improving assessment practices". Most of time we have shared experience of assessment and came to next  conclusions:
1.Students’ knowledge, skills and abilities need to be tested through a wide range of assessment methods to enhance the learning experience and reward valuable workplace skills such as teamwork and presentations.

2.Teaching staff can diversify their assessment methods by using oral presentations as well as written tests, group as well as individual tasks, and by utilising self and peer assessment to develop students' ability to self-monitor the quality of their work.

Second day with Irma Kunnari, M.Ed., Principal Lecturer

Second day with Irma was interesting day, because we have discussed about different kind of assessment: self-assessment, peer-assessment. During the workshop we tried to answered on questions: "How to do self-assessment?", "How create learning situation and atmosphere?", Mechanism or way of assessment, scheme of "assessment- iceberg". In addition we have conducted group work, where tried to represent our comprehension of assessment.

Teacher’s competence in assessment - assessment for learning and assessment of competence, Irma Kunnari, M.Ed., Principal Lecturer

Today we were discussing about assessment with  Irma Kunnari, M.Ed., Principal Lecturer. The topic was interesting for us. We were able to compare our experience with Finnish experience. We have recognised many interesting facts about Finnish assessment: assessment of behavior, own self-assessment of students and ect. We have familiarized with many aspects of assessment: assessment as action, competence based assessment, assessment of work skills as part of competence. We have conducted group work: have read pedagogical literature about assessment in Finland and were discussing.

Lessons of Friday

Till lunchtime we have represented our presentation about STEM Integration. We tried to show our comprehension of Integration of different subjects. My collegues showed interesting models of Integration. Afternoon, Seja has conducted seminar, which called "How make good questions?" This seminar was very important for us, because we be caught short of skills of writing thesis. She helped us in this issue.

Lesson Observation of Maria Niikoski 03.04.2014

1. Today I have visited lesson of Finnish teacher Maria Niinikoski. The teacher has conducted English lesson in five grades. During the lesson she has used different kind of methods and tolls. Maria Niinikoski has a large experience by teaching of languages. It's can see on her lessons. Her students, attends her lessons with big interesting. The teacher and students closely interact with each other through different kind of tasks and exercises, which promote to developing necessary skills and knowledge.
 2. The teacher use such methods as Listening, Reading, Writing, dialogical tools, recitation, written survey, individual survey. In my own teaching I would use IT technology as Maria Niinikoski, because she use this technology excellent.
3. Basically she uses handouts, different kind of games, pictures, crosswords.

4. During the lesson the teacher tries to motivate their students by praise and encouragement. In addition, she tries to interest students by interesting tasks and exercises.

Lessons Observation of Jouni Enqvist

Today we have considered issue about "Authentic Learning" and "Scaffolding in education". Our lection called "Some Concepts". We have discussed such terms as "Zone of Proximal Development", "Relevance" in education. Lecturer tried to give us opportunity to find our substance area in Integration with other subjects. In addition, afternoon, we tried to construct  (in pair), some example case how we could use as a teacher, a certain computer application, when we are designing our teaching/learning processes pedagogically meaningful way in our subject.

Today I have received more useful information about how I can use a method of STEM Integration during teaching my students. In addition, I've remembered about necessary skills of students of 21st Century. The lecturer, Jouni Enqvist, detail has explained what kind of skills need modern students. The lecturer distinguished by their professionalism and ability to convey clearly educational material.
